Ninja, Ninja, Never Stop! immediately grabs your attention because of its bright, vivid colors, large letters and the fact that it has multiple ninjas on the cover. As the dad to 2 young boys; and a fan of martial arts movies this book would seem to speak directly to me. One read through the book however and you- and your young audience will be hooked.
He sneaks around the house, crawling under tables, hiding in the laundry basket, hopping, sliding and generally being stealthy.
It’s a simple book with only a couple of words on each page. For example, ‘little ninja, very quick’ is all there is on one page accompanied by a picture of the young ninja stealing a cookie from his brother.
He tries to get away from his grandmother who is attempting to kiss him. The little ninja uses a ninja block to evader her affection.
This book is so stinkin cute. I loved every page of it. My wife initially had reservations about the book because it has the ninja stealing cookies and balloons from his brother in addition to knocking down his toys. I can see her point in that you don’t want to encourage brotherly fighting, but the situations that they show in the book are harmless and things that they’ll do it anyway.
Halfway through the book the ninja and his younger brother start to share the toys. Our ninja goes about jumping in leaf piles, sneaking jumping and looking for someone to scare when BAM! his brother goes all ninja on him and they become a team.
Ninja, Ninja, Never Stop! is a good book to read to the kids because it’s the perfect length. 30 pages long, fun images and it’s one that kids will really laugh and enjoy when you read it with emotion. About 25% of the pages end the dialogue with an exclamation mark and it’s much more fun to it like the roller coaster it’s intended to be.
Ninja, Ninja, Never Stop! is written by Todd Tuell with illustrations by Tad Carpenter. The book is appropriate for all ages, but as it’s not a cardboard book be careful when the little ones turn the pages.
We received a copy of the book for review purposes. All thoughts are our own. We’re not a ninja, but if we were we’d most likely use our stealth powers to steal cookies like the ninja in the book.
