The 2014 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition review

When they dropped off the 2014 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition for me to test drive I was immediately taken back by how big and red it was.  Granted the red will vary, especially if yours is a different color.  The size, however, will remain the same and it’s a big full size truck.  “Wow, it’s like a TARDIS”, I said to the person dropping off the truck.

His response was unintelligible, but as he didn’t say, “Yes, it is bigger on the inside”, I figured he wasn’t a  Doctor Who fan.  As big as the Toyota Tundra is on the outside the interior cabin appears to have its own zip code.  It comfortably seats three football player sized adults in the back.

However, we put two baby seats back there and it was amazing.  No matter how hard the 4 year old tried he couldn’t kick the front seats.  He couldn’t even reach over to his left to touch his brother.  It’s cavernous and has luxury among all of that space also.

The 2014 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition 5.7 liter engine, V-8 is all truck, but all luxury at the same time.  All of the sound system and Bluetooth components can be accessed through the steering wheel.  The sound is awesome and made us look forward to driving the car.

Another unexpected pleasantry of driving the vehicle was the heated seats.  Even if it’s mildly chilly outside the heated seats are a blessing and feel amazing.  The sensation the first time you encounter headed seats is akin to wetting your pants.  I haven’t soiled my pants in ages.  However, when I first turned on the heated seats I had to check my pants, several times, to confirm it was the seats heating and not the less desirable option.

Woah, heated seats & side mirrors, Bluetooth, leather seats and more, is this a truck, luxury SUV or some freaky dream unicorn I can haul lumber in?    It’s a luxury truck.  It can haul more cargo than I’ll ever need to, drives like a dream and was difficult to give back.   You can have your dream unicorn thoughts in another post, doing whatever they do.

I’ve driven8-wheeled vehicles and they take some getting used to.  I thought this would be tough to drive, but it wasn’t.  The large mirrors with their 2 different perspectives really helped me figure out who was next to me.  There is a nice rear view camera on the truck gate that helps you back out.

It’s worth noting that the ‘1794’ in the 1794 Toyota Tundra was named after a ranch in Texas.  The vehicle was designed there and is produced in Texas to boot.

The 2014 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition is priced comparative to the luxury that you receive.  At just under $50,000 it’s not cheap, but has lots of amenities that will be in like minded luxury vehicles.  I can’t really see most general contractors using this vehicle, but it does make a statement when you see it in the parking lot.    You can check out all of the photos from the review on our Google + album.
