One thing about great movies that were made back in the day is that they will receive a second, or third life as viewing formats change. The 40th Anniversary of The Exorcist is out on Blu ray DVD, includes a copy for digital download and will impress you even more.
Imagine listening to a song that you like on vinyl, now listen to that same song on digital download and there is no comparison. The colors on The Exorcist Blu ray are beautiful. They’re vivid and so sharp that they will make you want to watch the movie even if you don’t like scary movies.
I watch movies in Blu ray quite often, but the quality in this remastered release is superior to others.
The release comes with the extended director’s cut that was re-released a couple of years ago and the original theatrical release that was in theaters. It also includes a separate disc with two documentaries, Talk of the Devil and Beyond Comprehension: William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist.
Both of those are enjoyable because they provide some of the real life stories that inspired the book in addition to the technical aspects. The ‘spider walk’ scene is especially interesting to see how they did that and why it wasn’t included in the original movie.
This is a giveaway for The Exorcist: 40th Anniversary on Blu ray. The movie is rated R for good reason. It’s super scary, a little disturbing, has graphic language and some violence.
