It truly is a week for outstanding combinations. To help review the Angry Birds Star Wars I was provided with, I arranged a gaggle of children aged 3-10 to come over the house and play. Well, the 3 year old lives here, the game is intended for ages 5 and up; but I couldn’t very kick my son out of the house for a couple hours while we play with Angry Birds Star Wars could I?
In preparing for our Angry Birds Star Wars test group I had to test the toy myself. Insert giddy dad dance here. Angry Birds Star Wars AT-AT Attack Battle Game doesn’t have any parts that need to be put together by an adult. It’s an Angry Bird AT-AT that is transporting stromtroopers and Darth PigVader. It’s also under assault from a cadre of Angry Birds, launching themselves from a portable slingshot contraption.
The pigs can fit in the legs of the AT-AT or on top of the bricks that you place on top of the carrier. If you place the pigs on top of bricks on the carrier then they’re easier to knock down. If the pigs are placed in the legs of the AT-AT, the game is more difficult. You can also make the game more challenging by having strict areas from where the launcher for the Angry Birds can be located.
The fun part of the game is knocking down the AT-AT, and even as an adult, that is very fun. It took a couple of times to put the AT-AT together before I realized the quickest and easiest way to place the brings and pigs on the AT-AT. Once you realize that the game can fall down if you bump it, you’ll put it together in a couple of minutes.
Our 10 year old girl liked the game, but found it to be too easy for her.
The 5 year old boy and 8 year old girl loved the game and played it for hours. They loved knocking down the AT-AT, firing the Angry Birds and having mock battles with the characters. It was also reassuring that they could put the AT-AT together without any adult assistance. Literally, they loved this game and played it for hours.
I bet that boys up to age 11 would like the game too. As it stands, this is a great game for kids who are 5-9. They already know Angry Birds and love Star Wars, plus the AT-AT is the coolest vehicle ever on film (except for the Batmobile maybe). Combine the three of them and it’s a very fun thing for kids to play with that gets them away from the video game for a moment. Having said that; the Angry Birds Star Wars AT-AT Attack Battle Game also includes a code for exclusive in-app content on Angry Birds Star Wars.
I was provided with a copy of the game for review purposes. All thoughts are my own.
i say yes!
But of course! In this case out with the old in with the new does NOT apply. Star Wars is a classic, and thus, the old characters should definitely make an appearance!
Definitely! I’d love to see all the old characters in the new movies!
