The Hallmark Squawkin Egg Dropin’ Hen is one of those products that parents and children love. Those who aren’t parents or have children may scratch their head and wonder why said product exists. The hen, squawks out a rhyme to the tune of “Whoomp there it is”, and lays 3 eggs during her rhyme.
To some the mere thought of Whoomp there it is, may bring back painful memories of early 90’s pop and send them running toward the isles if fear of La Macarena. However, refocus the song; have the melody in your head while a chicken lays eggs and your 3YO runs around collecting them.
It’s silly, incredibly goofy and worlds of fun. When we received this our 3 YO Mojo wasn’t sure what to think of it at first. “Does he have candy”, he said. No, I assured him that the hen would do a funny dance if he simply pressed the hen’s wing.
Fast forward 2 hours and he was still playing with the hen. By the time Mommy Mojo got home the hen had become a lesson in sharing with his 1 year old brother. That lesson is still being learned as his cousins visited today and didn’t get a chance to see the hen as he had hidden her up in his room.
This is a ridiculously cute product that plays a :30 song, moves and will entertain your child for hours. My wife loves it too. It’s possible she enjoys it more than 3 YO Mojo. If you cringed when you heard the original song (back in the day) you’ll grin when you hear this rhythm and see your child enjoy it so much. If you have a child between the ages of 1-9 they’ll dance and laugh themselves silly with this.

This looks almost as good as the Pig Poop jelly bean dispenser that my ‘Lil Miss spotted at World Market. She wouldn’t stop talking about it.
As for my least favorite one hit wonder,….I hate “Everybody Dance Now” by C & C Music factory. Just don’t.
