In the mind’s eye of a parent you see yourself doing something, while telling yourself that you shouldn’t being doing it. Most of the time what you’re doing is not being patient enough with your children. I’m a very patient person, but I’m raising my hand in that I know I do this all too often.
Just today our toddler was trying to do countless things and coming up short one way or another. A mess was created, accidents occurred and many taboo things, such as pulling the cat’s tail tried to happen. Toddler was giddy with happiness and I was frustrated.
The mom in Because Your Mommy Loves You has that kind of day too, except she handles it better than I did. She and her son are going camping but before hitting the woods they go to the store, where the child does something he was asked not to.
When they go camping she can see her son getting frustrated trying to do things, but lets him figure things out. Because Your Mommy Loves You is about your child gaining confidence; trying different things and simply enjoying being a child. It’s a good book for parents to read as well because it reminds us that we shouldn’t do too much for our children.
It’s book that you’ll read aloud to your child. The sentences are short enough so that you can put lots of emotion in each one. As a parent that reads aloud to two children, there is nothing quite as draining as reading a long sentence to squirmy children.
R.W Alley does the illustration and if you’ve read any children’s book you’ll recognize his style. It’s very detailed with realistic figures and Alley makes good use of the page space.
Because Your Mommy Loves You is the companion book to Because Your Daddy Loves You. In that book dad and daughter go to the beach where she behaves like a typical 4 year old; playing, forgetting things and being totally cute. Dad is calm, reassuring and makes certain that they have a great day at the beach.
Both of these books are beautifully drawn and have large print that your child can follow the words along to.
My son slept late this morning!
Thanks for the review and giveaway. Wish someone would write a book about children with too much confidence. My 2 year old told a stranger at Kroger “I’m so cute” because he’s used to hearing it so often 🙁
When we said our prayers tonight, for the first time our three year old said that he was thankful for Mommy and Daddy because he loved him! So cute!
I smiled when my daughter saw her newly painted and decorated room.
