Win a $25 Snapfish gift card courtesy of Gerber Life College Plan

Gerber is a name that all parents know.  The Gerber Life College Plan is from those same folks and offers parents a simple and safe way to save for their children’s future.  It has a variety of monthly payments that you can make, offers life insurance protection and unlike a 529 offers guaranteed growth that is separate from the stock market.

The Gerber Life College Plan has partnered with Reading is Fundamental, another organization that you may know.  Reading is Fundamental was founded in 1966 and helps motivate children learn to read by working with them and their parents.  Since their founding they’ve provided 15 million books to over 4 million kids in every state in the U.s.

Project Open Book is the project that the Gerber Life College Plan and Reading is Fundamental have partnered on.  The goal of Project Open Book is to donate $10,000 to Reading is Fundamental.  You can get in on the action too and possibly win a $1,000 VISA gift card.  Project Open Book runs through February 13th, so upload a photo today to possibly win some serious cash.

All you have to do to enter is upload a photo to the photo mosaic on the Project Open Book Facebook page.   Also, for every photo that’s uploaded $1 will be donated to Reading is Fundamental.  The ultimate goal is to get 10,000 people to upload a photo.

We’ve started saving for our kid’s college and future using a variety of investments.  Granted, it’s not that much that we’ve invested now, but we’re hoping that by dollar cost averaging, putting a little bit-consistently over time will pay off.

The Gerber Life College Plan offers includes a variety of features that can help parents of any investing knowledge level plan for their children.  Coverage options are available from $10,000 to $150,000, premiums can be tweaked for any budget, maturity terms can be at 10, 15, 18 years or any other.  You can also use the money for any reason, so if your child doesn’t go to college it can be used for something else.

Start saving for college early because the earlier you start the easier it is in the long term.  It is easy to procrastinate though isn’t it?  When you’re dealing with something as important and expensive as your child’s educational costs you want to start saving ASAP.

The amount that you save isn’t as important as the fact that you start.  You can always increase the amount of money that you save, but you can’t backdate your contributions or the interest earned.

Photos are like saving for college in a way.  You wouldn’t start taking photos when your child was 2 years old would you?  The memories that you’d miss out on are something that you could never get back, regardless of how much time you spent with them.  Likewise, the interest will compound that much more if you start saving for your child’s education today.

The Giveaway!!!

To help reinforce how important doing something now is we’re giving away a $25 Snapfish Gift Card.  You can order photos, get a photo book, calendar or put a picture on any number of objects.

  1. Dear Trey,

    On behalf of
Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), thank you for supporting Project Open Book.
All the money raised through our partnership with Gerber Life helps us provide
new books to the kids who need them most. In low-income neighborhoods in the
U.S., there’s only one book for every 300 children. For many RIF kids, their
RIF book is their only book.

    Learn more
about RIF and our efforts through our newsletter,
